At around 9:00 a.m. local time (06:00 UTC), on 12 July 2006, Hezbollah initiated a diversionary Katyusha rocket and mortar attack on Israeli military positions and border villages, including Zar'it and Shelomi.
A ground contingent of Hezbollah fighters crossed the border into Israeli territory and attacked two Israeli armoured Humvees patrolling on the Israeli side of the Israel-Lebanon border between the villages of Zar'it and Shtula (Shetula). The attackers took advantage of a "dead zone" in the border fence not visible from any of the IDF lookout posts and may have used a wheeled ladder to climb the fence.[4] After hiding in a wadi on the Israeli side of the fence they attacked with a combination of pre-positioned explosives and anti-tank missiles. The team knocked out the trailing Humvee, killing three soldiers inside, and capture two soldiers from the first vehicle.[3] "Another soldier was seriously wounded, another lightly wounded and a third suffered a shrapnel scratch." The entire incident took no more than 10 minutes.

A total of seven army posts "reported taking fire at the same time, coordinated attacks that knocked out surveillance cameras." The attack had knocked out command communications with the convoy. Twenty minutes passed until Staff Sgts. Ehud Goldwasser, 31, and Eldad Regev, 26, were confirmed to be missing from the first vehicle, while the gunmen "fled through olive orchards to the Lebanese border village of Aita al-Shaab."

*Ehud (Udi) Goldwasser is an Israeli soldier who was captured in Israel by Hezbollah along with Eldad Regev on 12 July 2006, sparking the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict. His rank is Master Sergeant.

*Eldad Regev is an Israeli soldier, born in Qiryat Motzkin, captured by Hezbollah fighters along with Ehud Goldwasser on 12 July 2006, in Israel near the Lebanese border, sparking the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict. His rank is First Sergeant.

The pin is also dedicated to Gilad Shalit.
*Gilad Shalit ; born 28 August 1986 is an Israeli soldier who was abducted by Hamas forces on 25 June 2006.Shalit, a member of the IDF's Armor Corps, holds the rank of corporal and is the first Israeli soldier taken as a POW by Palestinians since Nachshon Wachsman in 1994. He was abducted by Hamas and is one of three Israeli soldiers to have been abducted by militants. His abduction, and the later abduction of Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev by Hezbollah were key events leading up to the conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon during summer 2006.

This is a pin that says : "please remember that we got soldiers in Lebanon" and who wears that pin means that he agrees that the soldiers should be free.
