Shayetet 13 (Flotilla 13) is the elite naval commando unit of the Israeli Navy, equivalent of the US Navy Seals. The unit is one of the top 3 Special Forces units of the Israel Defense Forces. Training of Shayetet 13 recruits lasts 20 months.

S'13 specializes in sea-to-land incursions, counter-terrorism, sabotage, maritime intelligence gathering, maritime hostage rescue, and boarding. The details of most Shayetet 13 missions are highly secretive, and the identities of operatives are kept classified.

The unit is respected as among the best of the world’s special forces and is often compared to the US Navy SEALS and Britain's Special Boat Service. The Shayetet operates tactically and strategically similar to the US Navy Seals. One of Israel's most prestigious combat units, the Shayetet is currently at the forefront in Israel's ongoing struggle against terrorism.
